Leaving Leon, Nicaragua – POTF #22

This article has links to products and services we love, which we may make commission from.

It is with regret I have to add a disclaimer to advise you that there is political instability in Nicaragua. Please refer to your country of origin advice before travelling.

Hello from Ometepe – Nicaragua’s ‘8’ shaped island with two volcanoes on it! We’ve recently hiked Maderas Volcano which took us nine hours, after one month of barely any exercise it’s safe to assume that I am in a world of pain today!

We’ve left our Workaway – where we worked for our stay (and also received the bad news that our Croatian Workaway for April has cancelled on us) in Las Peñitas and we are free travellers once again. During our time working at the playa we made three ‘weekend’ trips to Leon, Nicaragua’s university city and here are some photos taken on those trips. Leaving Leon was pretty easy knowing that we had three weeks of travel around the country ahead of us!

Don’t forget to tell us which photo you like the best!

      1. February and heading back in November. Nicaragua is the only country that I keep returning to for some reason. I don’t think the cathedral was fully painted when I was there last. A huge difference from when it wasn’t painted at all. Nicaragua as a whole is excellent for photography, people are friendly and always smiling, such a mix of old and new, beautiful contrasts.
