Day two at SXSW 2015 – we were prepared this time. Armed with our ID we hit Cheer Up Charlies on Red River Street (next to Mohawk and across the road from Stubbs) to see a Scottish band called The Twilight Sad. They didn’t disappoint and meeting Graeme and Sarah from Aberdeen was nice (Twitter friend!)
Post Twilight, we collected our laminates from Stubbs for Will Butler at Spin Party on Friday. Some parties allow you to rock up with the invite on your phone, others (bigger ones) you need to collect a wristband or laminate (not to be confused to official ‘wristbands’ or ‘badges’ – more on that later).
After our first slice of pizza of the day (of two, Craig gave me a row for spending $12 on two slices, $8 per slice at the shop next door, food is expensive here), we partied at NM Make Some Noise party at 78 Rainey Street. Luckily for us, the weather wasn’t representative of the street name and we received our first freeby – two tokens for drinks! There was an exciting cocktail list to choose from, the catch? You only get two drinks, you can’t buy any more (although there wasn’t really a bag search…)
We nursed our two drinks and sat with the beautiful people (was a classy affair) patiently waiting on Clean Bandit to take the stage. The band before, Night Terrors of 1927 were entertaining, SXSW is great for new discoveries.
We also ate free McDonalds although later realised that it was for wristband and badge holders, oops!
Total spend for two: $90
