Havana Travel Guides

Fiesta! Welcome to Havana. An explosion of music, smiles, crumbling buildings – that sums up Cuba’s capital. Havana is split into two areas: La Habana Vieja (Old Havana) and Vedado.

Most of the tourist attractions, such as Museo de la Revolución, Capitolio, and the many plazas, are situated in Old Havana, but there are a few modern restaurants in Vedado which are worth a visit.

Take a vintage car ride to Hotel Nacional, where the local mafia used to hatch plans over mojitos!

Trinidad Travel Guides

Take a stroll down Cuba’s famous colourful streets of Trinidad.

Drink rum, listen to jazz, and cycle, or take the bus to paradise, aka Playa Ancon *rubs eyes* yes, this exists!

Viñales Travel Guide

Found in western Cuba, the lush countryside of Viñales is a welcomed rest for the buzz of Havana. The town is surrounded by unusual-looking hills called mogotes!

Viñales is cigar land; there are plenty of farms which you can tour around.

Loved these tips and your itinerary 🙂 Will visit soon when this pandemic is over. BTW, what’s the best or are the best Cuban cuisines you have tried? Are they all worth it?

Cheers Tim! Ropa vieja for sure. We make it at home now once a fortnight! The cocktails are great too.

wrt your hostels advice I would be concerned about keeping all my stuff, er, mine. The idea of lugging everything into the shower with me etc doesn’t appeal. Comments?

    • Gemma I Two Scots Abroad says:

Hey Tim! The dorm we stayed in had a bathroom in the four-bed dorm so you didn’t have to leave the room but yeah, you would keep your toiletries in a bag and take them in with you. Only for a few nights though and only if you want to make friends. If that’s not a priority just go straight to a casa.

I am going to Cuba for a few months. I have been going to Cuba for 5 years. This time I would like to go backpacking thought the island. Anyone would like to join me to do the same?

    • Gemma I Two Scots Abroad says:

My best advice would be to start in Havana at one of the hostels if you are looking for travel mates. Have fun!
